Bellefaire School is developing Character Education by focusing on ten character traits to help students succeed and make responsible choices. Twelve students in the Skills for Action Class will be designing and constructing a quilt encompassing all ten traits. The grant covers quilting supplies as well as labor coast of a professional seamstress. Project Managers: Marion Ciepluch and Shelly Conner.

Beating A Way to Better Grades

Music will be one of the vehicles by which students in Wiley’s multi-age classroom will learn math language arts social studies and science and develop problem solving skills copperation and greater experssion. Grant funds will be used to purchase recording software and equipment for students to use to create projects in all aspects of the curriculum. Access to the equipment for personal projects will also be used as a reward for meeting expectations for homework and class work. Proficiency Through An Integrated Team Arts Program

By offering experiences that use visual auditory and kinesthetic learning styles more students can be expected to thrive. Canterbury Soars to Success

A targeted group of third graders will be grouped together in a daily language arts block with one third grade teacher and the reading teacher. They will receive intensive intervention tailored to individual needs in order to strengthen their reading skills. Grant funds will be used to purchase a variety of supplemental materials so they can soar to success. Leveling the Playing Field

The second grade team will help students reading below grade level become stronger independent readers by providing them a variety of fiction and non-fiction titles that are appropriate to their reading levels. In addition to dedicating a block of each language arts period to independent reading students and parents will engage in a variety of projects to encourage reading including a public library night hyperstudio book reports and reading response journals. Building Early Literacy in Early Childhood Special Education

The Preschool Intervention Program will expand the use of a storybook curriculum in four classes to raise the level of literacy for children with disabilities. Grant funded materials will be used at school and at home to give students multiple opportunities to hear and act out stories and to grasp concepts from those stories by experiencing them in art cooking games songs and movement.
