COSMIC Celebration

The COSMIC Team (Canterbury Organization Supporting Multicultural and Interdisciplinary Curriculum) organized two whole school units to broaden and deepen multicultural understanding. The Harlem Renaissance unit culminated in Canterbury goes to Harlem Night. Community members and students will explore diverse cultures during the all day Cosmic Celebration.

Claymation Mania

Art students created figures out of plasticine clay and used a grant-funded camcorder to create short animated videos of their figures. Character is Contagious-Catch a Character

Camp Out!

The 15 students in the Developmentally Handicapped class will go on a three day and two night camping trip accompanied by their teacher aide and social worker. They will focus on nature studies and outdoor skills that are a structured program at the Centerville YMCA Camp. The experience is also expected to improve communication, cooperation, teamwork and decision making to benefit the group.

Building Early Literacy in Early Childhood Special Education

The Preschool Intervention Program promotes early literacy using a storybook curriculum that gives children active ways to experience books. This grant added more titles to the existing program and extended this successful approach through the whole year.
