Parade of Elements

Students will research an element from the periodic table, write a research paper about the element and create a costume appropriate for the element. Taylor students will visit Boulevard and Fairfax students to present the element information to the elementary students in a &Parade of the Elements.& Elementary students will write follow up letters to the Taylor students.

Holocaust Cantata

On October 12, the Heights High A Cappella Choir performed a community concert with choirs from Plymouth Church of Shaker Heights, the Mayfield United Methodist Church and the Cantor from Temple Emanu El. The combined choirs shared dinner before the performance.

Grand Persons Dinner Theater

Seventh graders will write essays about a senior citizen, a grandperson, who is important to them. Selected students and their grandperson, seniors from the CH and UH office on Aging and about 30 nursing home residents will attend a dinner theatre presentation of Into The Woods, performed by members of the drama classes. The Builders Club, the Life Skills class, student council and the Gourmet Club will prepare the food. The IMD students will perform dinner music. The cast and crew will serve the food to the guests.

Mastering Math Marathon

Students in grade 1 to 3 will develop better number sense using calculators that have problem solving operations. A licensed math clinician will engage 4th and 5th graders in interactive problem solving sessions that develop five math strands.
