Youth of Promise – Community Connection Grant

45 boys were selected to participate in a mentoring and guidance program to improve student behavior and academic achievement. Students met monthly for discussions and guest speakers. Parents/guardians joined the boys for many of the meetings. Funds paid for materials and speaker gratuities.

Congratulations Heights High Class of 2010!

After four years of hard work and memories to last a lifetime, the 373 members of the Cleveland Heights High School Class of 2010 received their diplomas on June 7 at the State Theatre at Playhouse Square Center in downtown Cleveland. Watch the Commencement Ceremony on Time Warner Cable Channel 22 each evening at 7 p.m., or pick up a copy of the program at the Lee Road Library.

Seniors processed into the auditorium behind flags announcing their Small School and were seated in the front of the classic theatre. Choral entertainment was provided by Heights students and the Barbershoppers sang the National Anthem.

Joel Furr and Sarah Zelman sang a duet, Home. Student Council president Kelly Ward welcomed the audience to the event. Senior class president Quianna Charles handed the class mantle to Richard Moses, president of the class of 2011.

Thirty-three Legends — parents and grandparents of graduates who attended Heights High — were asked to stand and be honored.

Taylor Reynolds and Priya Datta spoke about their experience at Heights. Superintendent Douglas Heuer and Board of Education President Nancy Peppler thanked the senior class for their contributions and gave advice to the new graduates.

Then, in their final act as Cleveland Heights High School students, the young adults walked on stage and accepted a diploma from their principal. A list of colleges and universities that will welcome our students this fall is available here.
