Now’s the time to thank a teacher
April 20, 2011 by Reaching Heights
The Reaching Heights Thank-A-Teacher program recognizes teachers and fosters an atmosphere of appreciation. Parents and community members can pay tribute to a Heights teacher by making a contribution to Reaching Heights in honor of that teacher. Reaching Heights puts these gifts to good use by funding grants to school-based teams for projects that make wonderful things happen for Cleveland Heights-University Heights students. We also let the teacher’s principal know about the honor.

April 13, 2011 by Reaching Heights
On April 11, 2011, Reaching Heights, in cooperation with the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District, presented the third Reaching Musical Heights concert at Severance Hall. This celebration of musical excellence featured instrumental and vocal performances by more than 400 student-musicians from every level of our district’s music program.
Few communities have as magnificent a neighbor as Severance Hall, home of the world-class Cleveland Orchestra. Few can match our long tradition as a natural habitat for the arts. We are fortunate that the Cleveland Heights-University Heights school district is such a community. This event plays to those strengths.
Reaching Heights produces this unique quadrennial concert to celebrate the crucial role of music as part of a balanced education. In 2003 and 2007, and now again in 2011, this event ignited community pride and demonstrated the power of music to inspire, delight and connect people.
This unique event:
• provides students an unforgettable and motivating educational experience that will deepen their commitment to music and excellence;
• showcases the remarkable instrumental and vocal talents of our students and skills and dedication of our music faculty;
• unites our diverse community and deepens its appreciation for the arts in public education;
• promotes Severance Hall and other University Circle cultural institutions to our entire community and nurtures a love of music in the next generation of arts patrons;
• generates funds through a pre-concert benefit dinner for Reaching Heights to invest in musical and academic excellence in our schools.
Reaching Heights is dedicated to the idea that public education, accessible to everyone, can help students and communities achieve excellence. We know that music can and should be a powerful and beautiful part of that work. And so we were proud and grateful for the opportunity to bring Reaching Musical Heights to the stage of Severance Hall for the third time on April 11, 2011. We hope you can join us in this celebration of our students, their teachers, and great music.
