Congratulations to Heights High drummer James Muschler, winner of the James Bane Jazz Scholarship for 2006. The award provides a year of music lessons and recognizes a member of the Heights High Jazz Ensemble for their contributions to the band.
“James is an excellent musician who is hard working and passionate about jazz and music,” said Jazz Band Director Brett Baker who also noted, “He has improved greatly since the beginning of the year when as a junior, he joined the jazz band. He jumped in and really gave a lot to the band. Other musicians like to play with James because of his skill and dedication.”
In addition to the Heights High Jazz Ensemble, James is a member of the Jazz Combo and the Heights High Symphony.
Reaching Heights created the award in 1997 to honor retiring Heights High Jazz Ensemble leader, James Bane.
