$10,000 Gift Launches the Patti Family Music Scholarship Fund

The McGregor Retirement Community has made a $10,000 founding gift to establish the endowment fund for the Patti Family Music Scholarship Fund.

Vince Patti’s children and friends established the fund with Reaching Heights as a tribute to the career of this loved and respected Cleveland Heights- University Heights school district music educator, band leader and musician.

The fund will give future generations of Cleveland Heights-University Heights school district students extra opportunities to deepen their music commitment and skills, and contribute to the school district’s tradition of musical excellence, a legacy that Vince Patti helped establish. Reaching Heights will administer the fund.

McGregor Retirement Community made the gift because of its strong links to the community, commitment to the arts and the public schools, and “to celebrate our wonderful association with Vince Patti and his family and friends who shared their music and lives with McGregor’s residents, their families, and our staff,” said Sue Neff, Executive Director of McGregor in announcing the donation.

Mr. Patti was the vocal music teacher at Wiley Junior High from 1956 to 1966. He spent a year in the instrumental music department at Heights High, before becoming one of the district’s elementary school instrumental music teachers. Multiple sclerosis led to his retirement from the schools in 1976. He continued as a musician and band leader until his death in 2005. Mrs. Patti was also a teacher in the Heights schools and their children are alumni of the district.
