The public is invited to the All District Middle School Band and Orchestra Music Festival to be held on March 7, 2005 at Wiley Middle School in University Heights . The 7:00 PM concert will feature 85 Cleveland Heights-University Heights musicians from Monticello , Roxboro and Wiley Middle Schools . The students will perform in two ensembles whose members attend the three middle schools. Admission is $2 for adults and free for students.
The performers have met weekly since January to prepare for the concert. Elementary music teachers Pam Adamson and Bob Adamson, and high school instrumental directors Donna Dehn and Brett Baker have joined the middle school instrumental teachers Jeff Altonen, Ericster Richmond and Paul Hungerford to offer the honor ensemble members expert coaching and a motivating enrichment experience.
The initiative is supported by a grant from Reaching Heights , the Cleveland Heights-University Heights Public Schools Foundation. The project is an outgrowth of Reaching Musical Heights , the gala concert held at Severance Hall in 2003 that Reaching Heights organized in partnership with the CH-UH music faculty. Proceeds from that concert support the second year of this initiative designed to foster excellence and widespread participation in the district's exceptional music program.
