Reaching Heights is accepting applications to the Heights Summer Music Camp, a new one week summer instrumental music camp for students who are currently enrolled in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School district.
The camp, to be held June 20 to 25 at Wiley Middle School , is for students completing 5 th ,6 th ,7 th and 8 th grade who have a minimum of two years experience in their school instrumental program or one year of private lessons. Campers will receive expert instruction on their instrument while preparing for an end-of-camp performance to be held on Saturday, June 25. Camp will include music theory and recreation time.
Donna Dehn, director of the Heights High Symphony is the camp director, and CH-UH music educator Betsy Neylon is the camp coordinator. CH-UH music teachers and Heights High music students will also teach.
The fee for this fun-filled week is $125. Scholarships are available to ensure that all motivated musicians who want to participate can take advantage of this opportunity.
Interested campers must submit an application and $25 deposit made out to the Heights Summer Music Camp by April 1. Applications can be obtained from CH-UH instrumental music teachers, online at www.reachingheights.org , or by contacting Reaching Heights at 932-5110 and should be mailed to Heights Summer Music Camp, 1991 Lee Road #106, Cleveland Heights, OH 44118.
Reaching Heights is a community-based citizen organization that mobilized community resources to support our public schools. The camp is the newest Reaching Heights initiative to promote music education and sustain the school district's tradition of excellence in music.
