
Reaching Heights started to make grants to teachers to enrich learning through music during the 1996-97 school year. The grants of up to $400 may be used to integrate music into the curriculum, create special music enrichment opportunities for students, or to provide materials and instruments needed for music instruction. In 2003 Reaching Heights added a “Sudden Opportunity Grant” option for music teachers who need up to $500 for an unanticipated enrichment opportunity that became available outside the regular grant cycle. To learn about other music initiatives click here.
Initial funding for Reaching Heights grants and music programs came from, Reaching Notable Heights, a benefit concert held at Cain Park in 1995 that featured an orchestra made up of alumni of Heights High’s famed music program.
