Community

Public schools belong to all of us and they benefit all of us. An educated community is a healthier, happier, more prosperous, and safer place to live.  The Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District is known as Tiger Nation. If you live, work, or own a business within the CH-UH school district, your taxes fund our public schools which makes you a Heights Tiger! No matter where you send your children to school, or if you have no children, you are a Heights Tiger! As a Heights Tiger, you are an investor in our public schools.

We invite everyone in the community to visit our schools, attend a public meeting, volunteer, or cheer for our athletes at a sporting event! Public schools function best when they have a synergistic relationship with the community they serve.

community resources

Access to resources is critical for a healthy family. Reaching Heights has compiled a directory including local resources for basic needs, academic enrichment, mental and physical health, city and school district emergency contacts, and student camps. The Reaching Heights Resource Directory is accessible at each school or download a copy here. The Directory is updated twice a year and submissions can be made to Krista at Reaching Heights.

The Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District also offers community resource links on their website.

community spelling bee

Since 1990, Reaching Heights has showcased the "best" adult spellers in our campy, challenging, family-friendly, and always fun, Community Spelling Bee held each spring. Teams of three vie for the Golden Bee trophy. Previous teams have consisted of area lawyers, high school students, teachers, parents, mayors, librarians, and adult girl scouts, to name just a few.  Save the date for the 33rd annual Reaching Heights Community Spelling Bee - Wednesday, April 10 at 7:00 pm at Heights High School.

community events

We invite you to participate in a wide variety of events sponsored by Reaching Heights, the CH-UH School District, and other community partners. Check out the events on our website, our Facebook page, or the CH-UH School District events page

tiger nation yard signs

Have you spotted the Tiger Nation yard signs dotting your neighborhood? We sure hope so! Get your own yard sign and show your Tiger Nation pride!  Signs are sold as a fundraiser for $10 by each school's PTA. Find your closest school's PTA contact information here, or contact Reaching Heights for assistance. Other Tiger Nation gear can be ordered online through the district.
