Jazmine Monroe is a first-grade teacher at Noble Elementary School. Beyond
providing foundational instruction in all content areas to ensure academic and social development, she considers creating a classroom where students feel seen, safe, respected, and loved is her top priority. She has two favorite parts of her classroom role: first, watching kids light up when they realize they've mastered a new skill, and second, finding ways to integrate her passion for creative arts in the classroom. You can often find her students working on creative projects to extend their learning in the classroom.
In addition to teaching, she serves as one of the district's tech coaches, providing instructional technology support to teachers and staff. In this role, she is able to provide professional development in-district about district-adopted technology and tools. As a Certified Google Trainer, she has presented at state and national technology conferences. Ms. Monroe enjoys sharing what she knows about technology with other teachers because teaching has become very technology-dependent and providing support allows others to work more efficiently with digital tools.
She has been teaching for 14 years. In her first year, she taught in the Kent City Schools. Over the next 12 years she taught both first and fifth grades
at Oxford Elementary School. During her tenure at Oxford, she was one of the founding team members of the musical program that ran from 2015-2020. She is hoping to bring that program to Noble soon.
Ms. Monroe is from Pittsburgh, PA and came to Ohio to attend Kent State University where she majored in education. Originally she was planning on becoming a doctor specializing in forensic pathology but her love of teaching, which she honed while coaching figure skating and working at various church camps, won out. She has a master's degree from American College of Education in Instructional Design and Technology.
When she is not at school, Ms. Monroe is an active patron of the arts. You can find her catching a show at Playhouse Square or visiting exhibits at local museums. She often travels to new places and loves to explore different countries with family and friends.
