Mr. Ricky Watters, Safety & Security Coordinator for Heights Schools

School safety is top of mind for everyone involved in the Heights Schools but no one more than Ricky Watters, the CH-UH City School District's Safety and Security Coordinator. In this position since 2019, Mr. Watters ensures a safe and orderly environment is maintained at all Heights school events and activities.

As the leader of the Security Department, Mr. Watters believes it is essential to create a work environment that is safe, efficient, and effective. "I want my staff to continue to grow together as a team and start each day with more knowledge and confidence than the day before. A positive attitude and teamwork are critical for an effective security department."

Prior to joining the CHUH City School District, Mr. Watters spent 20 years with the Maple Heights Schools. He served as Assistant Director of Security, CTE Instructor of Criminology, Girls Basketball Coach, Head Coach of Track and Field, and Assistant Football Coach.


He has a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Cleveland State University and he is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He is also a graduate of the Cleveland Heights Police Department and served as a police officer for Cleveland Metropolitan Housing Authority and the City of Maple Heights.


Mr. Watters is clearly well-prepared for his position and he enjoys being part of Tiger Nation. "I am so honored and proud to be a part of the CH-UH School district. Everyone in the district has welcomed me with open arms which has allowed me to establish positive working relationships with school district administrators and city leaders in Cleveland Heights and University Heights."
